About Us
Novum Industria LLC was founded in 2018 as a small spin-off company comprised of a core group of scientists from the Plasma Science and Fusion Center of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). The scientific staff of Novum Industria have many decades of technical experience spanning the range from laboratory research, advanced component and systems development, to management of large-scale projects pursuing advanced superconducting and energy technology goals. Together they have worked on magnet systems covering nearly every major application of large-scale superconductivity including fusion energy, magnetic levitation, energy storage, power generation and transmission, magnetic separation, high energy and nuclear physics, as well as medical applications.
One of our major technology areas is the development of very high-field, highly compact, superconducting cyclotron accelerators for medical applications (proton and carbon radiotherapy, PET isotope production), for security applications (detection of special nuclear materials), and for laboratory research in nuclear physics.
We are also presently exploiting recent advances in High Temperature Superconducting materials to increase power grid efficiency and efficiency of data and telecom centers, and microgrids, and for advanced, very high magnetic field applications.
